Roy de Deniers

from The Conver Tarot de Marseille, blocks of 1760; this printing c. 1809-1833

A king in a broad hat sits with one leg crossed high over the other, a coin held against his knee, armor showing under his robes. His seat is a low bench half hidden by drapery; the coin, as everywhere in this suit, is a stamped rosette rather than any real currency.
