Le Monde

from The Jean Noblet Tarot, c. 1650-1659

Numbered X.X.I. A naked figure stands inside an almond-shaped wreath holding a rod and a cloth, with the angel, eagle, ox and lion of the evangelists at the corners; the Noblet lion wears an oddly human face. Flornoy read the central figure as androgynous, and scholars still argue the point.
