Le Fou

from The Jean Noblet Tarot, c. 1650-1659

No number, and the title strip reads LE FOV. The Fool strides along with his bundle on a stick and bells on his hood while a small animal claws at him from behind, his lowered breeches leaving his genitals bare. Later Marseille decks cover him up; the frankness is a Type I trait. Flornoy read the animal as a civet rather than a dog.
