Le Bateleur

A young juggler stands at his table, a wand raised in one hand, with a cup, a sword and coins laid out before him, the emblems of the four suits. The wide brim of his hat swings up in a double curve, the shape Wirth later sharpened into a figure eight, his sign of inexhaustible energy. The series opens here, with the Hebrew letter Aleph.
