La Papesse

A veiled woman on a throne between two pillars, a crescent moon on her tiara, an open book half covered by her cloak and two crossed keys in her lap, a checkered floor at her feet. Wirth read her as hidden tradition, knowledge kept rather than preached; the crescent and the half-veiled book belong to his program, not to the Marseille card.
