A workshop interior: a craftsman sits at a bench working small pieces of metal with a hammer, a younger assistant at his shoulder, a furnace with a fire burning behind him and tools on a wall shelf above. The artisan is the only card of the fifty set indoors, and the only one with a second working figure. It is often read as a goldsmith's shop, which would have been a familiar sight in Ferrara.
