Cavalier d'Épée

from The Conver Tarot de Marseille, blocks of 1760; this printing c. 1809-1833

An armored rider raises a red-bladed sword high over his horse's neck, his saddle cloth flying out behind. The charging swordsman kept this exact pose through Waite's deck and into most decks since; only the drawing style changed.
