Reyne d'Épée

from The Conver Tarot de Marseille, blocks of 1760; this printing c. 1809-1833

A crowned queen holds an upright sword against her shoulder, a heavy red and blue mantle wrapped around her. The stiff pose and raised blade passed almost unchanged into Waite's Queen of Swords a century and a half later.
