Roy d'Épée

from The Conver Tarot de Marseille, blocks of 1760; this printing c. 1809-1833

An armored king under a broad hat raises a red-bladed sword, seated on a block throne with a small scratched device on its base. Armor under cloth of state: of the four kings he is the most plainly soldierly, which is how the suit keeps its temper.
