La Justice

from The Grand Etteilla, printed c. 1875-1899, to Etteilla's design of 1788

Justice enthroned with sword and scales, crowned, on a checkered floor. Upright La Justice, reversed Le Légiste, the lawyer. The four cardinal virtues survive Etteilla's purge of the trumps almost unchanged; he kept what he considered sound doctrine and renumbered the rest.
