A muse standing on a swan, a long scroll or ribbon wound round her, a small fortified town on the shore behind. Clio is the muse of history. The swan under her feet and the water around it repeat the bird under Erato; this card and Apollo's are the only two where a figure actually stands on the swan, which links Clio closely to the god.
