III d'Épée

from The Conver Tarot de Marseille, blocks of 1760; this printing c. 1809-1833

Two bowed blades enclose the field and a straight sword stands through the center, flowers sprouting at the sides. Three swords and no drama; the pierced red heart that now comes to mind belongs to later decks, not to this arithmetic.
