A woman in a breastplate and a lion-skin head covering, holding a short mace or club, one arm wrapped around a tall broken column, a lion at her feet. Fortitude, lettered FORTEZA. The column is her oldest emblem, from Samson; the lion and lion-skin come from Hercules. Tarot Strength usually shows only the lion, so this card carries the fuller medieval set of signs.
